Joaquin Croxatto´s paintings consist of sophisticated color relations set in a strict geometric grid, that condense forms and figures into unexpected visual directions.
He uses his developed sensibility, mastery of traditional techniques and power of suggestion to deconstruct known and familiar subjects under intricate mechanical patterns into a subtle visual design with symbolic elements.
He searches for an aesthetic crush, a cathartic epic, or in any case, jump-starting a dialogue between image, object and the booming super digital culture.
Artist Statement II – Inner World
A dim sun floats over an impossible landscape of shock narratives. Cast shadows take the shape of a paradoxical geometric puzzle. Vital forces navigate the waters of designed reality following the stars of heaven´s vault where consciousness is one and truths cohere.
Immersed in an hyper stylized designed momentum and inspired by glitch, Opt and game art, I pursue a taste for overcharged simplicity, while pushing and pulling a fictional axonometric structure of a subject.
Carefully selected subjects that provide me with an archetype, a commonly recognized model to model meaning from. In a contemporary painting context any subject is self-referencing.
I work through a set of triangular geometric limitations that will suggest a complete idea, building through a pattern to the fundamental visual edge of recognition.
